Where There’s Smoke is an innovation and branding consultancy and your privacy is very important to us.
This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you take part in market research with Where There’s Smoke.

What information do we collect about you?
We only collect personal information which you voluntarily consent to providing to us either directly or through a third party, for example, one of our clients or one of our carefully selected third party suppliers such as a market research panel company or a research recruitment company. All information is obtained in accordance with the Market Research Society's Code of Conduct.

How will we use the information you have provided?
We collect and process information about you which you have consented to providing to us for market research purposes to Where There’s Smoke for the purposes of performing its duties to its clients as an innovation and branding consultancy.
Your personal information will never be shared with members of the public by Where There’s Smoke.

We may share your personal data with commissioning clients (only when you have given informed consent) and/or with our trusted and carefully selected third party suppliers with whom we have contracts to analyse and process research data. All third party suppliers of Where There’s Smoke are compliant with the GDPR. Where There’s Smoke will not share your personal information with anyone for marketing purposes.

Access to your information and withdrawing your consent
Any personal information that Where There’s Smoke obtains has been provided with informed consent. If you have provided your consent, you can always opt out at any time.

You have a right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. We may make a small charge for this service. You may ask us to correct or remove information that you think is inaccurate.

From time to time the personal data we collect from you may be transferred to and stored in countries outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”). How do we ensure your personal information is held securely?
We take our responsibilities very seriously to keep the information you provide us with securely. As such we take every reasonable precaution to ensure your information is protected from loss, theft or misuse. These precautions include appropriate physical security of our offices, controlled access to computer systems and use of secure, encrypted internet connections.

How long will we retain your data?
If you have been provided with a financial incentive for your time taking part in market research by Where There’s Smoke… Limited, we are required under UK law to retain records of all financial transactions for 6 years after which time it will be destroyed. This information is kept in a locked area to which access is controlled. Aside from this, any personal information which we obtain from you will be destroyed after the completion of the project.

Membership of Where There’s Smoke Mailing List (B2B communications only)
If you are contacted by Where There’s Smoke as a business contact and receive marketing communications from us, you have the right to unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe button at the bottom of all mailings from Where There’s Smoke. 

You will automatically not receive any further communications from us. Our marketing materials are only sent via email to those businesses and business contacts to whom we believe there is a legitimate interest in receiving our communications as a leading innovation and branding consultancy.
